Whilst in Grande Prairie, Mark and I had the opportunity to see a few of the local wildlife! Up until now we have seen a couple of Beaver dam's and lodges, a few gophers but no deer, no elk and no buffalo... Well!!! We were in for a treat!
Mark M(my awesome host) was driving us to our vocational visit when BLAM! We saw the world's biggest beaver! It took us a while to get the bugger to stand still but after a lot of persuasion we won him over for a photo.
So you can well imagine by this time we were excited. Mark M kept telling us how the deer around Grande Prairie were "always around the corner hanging out by some trees" (Yeah right.... We didn't see any!) So Mark M was a legend and ending up showing us some elk... Holy moley!!! They're HUGE!!! Unfortunately my photo does not do them any justice as we couldn't get close enough to take a photo as they're really skiddish animals... Very majestic though!
So Mark and I thought that was the end of the wildlife tour but oh no!!! Mark M had more in store for us! Baby Buffalo!!!!! They're so cute! The bull buffalo looked like it was head banging as it ran away... Hilarious!
Thanks Mark M for all the wildlife!! Hopefully we'll get the chance to see a moose sometime... or maybe this will be the only one we do see??? (It is a small moose, stuffed in the Grande Prairie museum)
Please note: In the taking of these photos, no beaver, human or elk was harmed in a physical sense. Psychologically..... well let's not go there ;)
Super Pics and equally entertaining comments. Happy Birthday for 05/06/2011.
