Brendan Guiney

Executive Manager, Infrastructure Development – MidCoast Water
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tuncurry Forster

I began my career in the water industry after completing a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering at Newcastle University Australia in 1996 and have since achieved a Diploma in Project Management (2003) and a Masters in Business Administration (Technology Management) in 2007 whilst working with my employer, MidCoast Water.

I have 14 years experience in delivering water and sewerage infrastructure in planning, design and project management roles. I am currently responsible for AU$35 million per annum in water supply and sewerage capital works, reporting to MidCoast Water’s board.

During our visit to District 5370 I would like to:

·         Visit water utilities and contrast the operating and strategic environment with our own current issues and trends, specifically:
o   Providing essential services to disadvantaged communities
o   Project planning and project management
o   Best practices in community consultation
o   Environmental management programs
·         Meet with engineering consultants and exchange ideas on design methods, applications of new technology in engineering and infrastructure projects
·         Meet with water industry or local government managers and discuss strategic business planning in a water utility or local government environment
·         Learn about and experience the lifestyle and culture of Canada
