Late Night Antics at Barrhead

On our Way over to Barrhead from Camrose we dropped into the Wetaskiwin Museum thanks to the local rotarians for arranging us coupons. The museum was world class with heaps of beautifully restored vehicles bikes and aircraft. These guys could even restore Kel to his former glory I reckon!! Of course I went hunting for Chev trucks and did pretty well as you can see below. Thanks heaps to Al Rostad for driving us and giving us a guided tour of the museum -I'm glad you were there to explain how the grain elevators work!!. Thanks for lunch too Al

We then continued on to Barrhead, courtesy of Dawn's casino van and the Barrhead rotarians, where we were met by a great bunch of friendly rotarians who were thoughtful enough to bring along Spike a Blue Heeler dog and Beetroot for our burgers to make us feel right at home. As strange as it was to be eating dinner in what seemed like the middle of the day at 6.00pm is was all very nice especially that taco salad and the berry cheesecake. The Barrhead rotarians are such a nice friendly group and were eager to meet us and make us laugh.

After a quick siteseeing tour we arrived at our hosts houses and it turns out Em is staying right across the road. Our hosts took us on a little mission to one of their neighbours where we found out it is tradition for Canadians to help their friends celebrate milestone birthdays by odourning their house/frontyard/car with multiples of stuff adding to the age they have just turned. We set about hammering 50 black timber crosses in this poor guys front lawn so that he would remember his 50th birthday. Our hosts were very keen to take photos of me and Em putting the posts in so I'm guessing we'll get the blame. These Canadians are just as mischievous as us Aussies. I'm taking this one home with me. Luv it. I also got to have my first drive of a "yank tank" on the wrong or "right" side of the road. What a turnout that was. Would have been much easier if the Dodge wasn't 12ft wide!!. Nice truck though. Wouldn't mind taking that one home too
